The courses “Soft Tissue and Musculoskeletal Sonography” are designed for physicians and technicians who are at an entry level (course 1) or an advanced level (course 2) of ultrasound scanning as well as sonographers and other healthcare professionals who use or would like to use diagnostic ultrasound in sports medicine, rheumatology and orthopaedics.
The 3-day trainings start with an overview of the basic ultrasound techniques involved in musculoskeletal sonography examination and general handling of the ultrasound device. The course comprises an introduction to normal ultrasound anatomy of the joint, tendon and soft tissue as well as the major pathologies in these fields. Our ultrasound experts will explain the clinical relevance of ultrasound and its role compared to other diagnostic modalities like CT and MRI.
Ultrasound is becoming more frequently utilised in the routine evaluation of soft tissue and the musculoskeletal system. In view of an increasing demand for clinical applications of musculoskeletal sonography we will discuss the advantages and limitations of ultrasound. You will have the opportunity to examine volunteers or real patients in small guided groups in order to enable a profound understanding and an efficient use of ultrasound.
The final goal upon completion of this training is the independent performance of basic soft tissue and musculoskeletal sonographic examinations in daily practice. At the end of the course you will receive a certificate which follows the German or where applicable European Guidelines for Certification for the specific course level.
