The course "Transthoracic Echocardiography" is designed for physicians and technicians involved in cardiac disease as well as sonographers and other professionals learning cardiac ultrasound.
Echocardiography of the heart is one the most important diagnostic tools for the routine management of patients with cardiac diseases. With an interdisciplinary approach this course provides the theoretical and practical basis for all applications of cardiac ultrasound. You will be introduced to ultrasound techniques like M-Mode, 2D and 3D-Echocardiography, Stress Echocardiography, CW Doppler and Color Flow Doppler.
The course provides an introduction to normal ultrasound anatomy of the heart, followed by pathologic changes like coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, systolic and diastolic heart failure, pulmonary embolism, aortic disease, pericardial disease and cardiac neoplastic diseases.
You will have interactive sessions on when and how to use echocardiographic information in comparison to other non-invasive and invasive techniques. The training includes interactive teaching, intensive hands-on training and case based work in small groups.
You will receive a certificate which follows the German or where applicable European Guidelines for Certification for the specific course level.
